Moores Family Tree

Many of the Moores family were born and raised in Wimborne Minster according to Baptism Records of 1635–1694. Later, Thomas Moores, made their way to Newfoundland, north of Carbonear at Blackhead. Jonathan Moores was born in Blackhead 1723 and died on March 21, 1808. He is buried in the Old Blackhead Methodist Cemetery the first Methodist cemetery on the island.

1709

During 1709, Carbonear, Newfoundland residents petition Queen Anne of England for assistance while sheltering on Carbonear Island during French raids - Thomas Moore signed the document with many other early settlers or 'planters' of the area.
